Issue - meetings

(i)       to note that the project formed part of the Education New Build Programme presented to the Capital Programme Committee, Strategic Commissioning Committee and City Growth and Resources Committee in September 2018 and that the project would contribute to the delivery of Aberdeen City Council’s Early Learning and Childcare Expansion Programme of works;

(ii)      to note the grant award of £2,000,000 made in respect of the Community Hub part of the project by the Regeneration Capital Grant Fund on 25 April 2019;

(iii)      to note the current on-going works leading to an opening of the new Torry Primary School towards the end of 2021; and

(iv)     to instruct the Chief Officer Capital to provide a further update on progress at this Committee in June 2020.

The Committee had before it a report by the Director of Resources which provided an update on the progress of Torry Primary School (including Community Hub), following the decision of Council at its meeting on 5 March 2019 to procure appropriate works and services and to enter into any contracts necessary for the delivery of the project.

The report recommended:-

That the Committee -

(a)      note that the project formed part of the Education New Build Programme presented to the Capital Programme Committee, Strategic Commissioning Committee and City Growth and Resources Committee in September 2018 and that the project would contribute to the delivery of Aberdeen City Council’s Early Learning and Childcare Expansion Programme of works;

(b)      note the grant award of £2,000,000 made in respect of the Community Hub part of the project by the Regeneration Capital Grant Fund on 25 April 2019;

(c)      note the current on-going works leading to an opening of the new Torry Primary School towards the end of 2021; and

(d)      to instruct the Chief Officer Capital to provide a further update on progress at this Committee in June 2020.

The Committee resolved:-

to approve the recommendations contained in the report.
