GRANTS TO CULTURAL ORGANISATIONS

 

1.                  The Council had before it a report by the Head of Economic and Environmental Sustainability presenting applications from arts and cultural organisations for financial assistance from the Council.

 

The report detailed the five themes of the Cultural Strategy;  provided details of the various funding streams within the Council to assist with the delivery of the strategy;  and indicated that £65,978 was available for disbursement to cultural organisations in the financial year 2007/08, broken down between the three budgets as follows:-

            Grants to Cultural Organisations                                                                 £3,500

            Small Grants Fund for Volunteer-led Cultural Organisations                   £12,270

            City Growth Fund                                                                                          £50,208

 

The Council resolved:-

Towards the costs of a local Aberdeen artist presenting his work at the Art Centre with that of a French artist Olivier Mome as part of a twinning exhibition with a painter from Clermont-Ferrand.

Towards the costs of drumming workshops for children and adults in community centres.

Granite City Records

Towards the costs of a community arts festival, comprising a 10-day programme at community venues in October half-term.

APPLICATIONS FOR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE – SPORTS FUND

 

2.                  The Council had before it a report by the Head of Culture and Learning (North) presenting applications received from sports organisations for financial assistance from the Sports Fund.

 

The report indicated that the balance of the sports budget in 2007/08 would be £13,750 should the recommendations in the report be approved.
