matter of urgency

The Lord Provost intimated that he had directed in terms of Section 50(B)(4)(b) of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973, that the following item be considered as a matter of urgency to enable the Council to consider the matter at the earliest opportunity.

The Council had before it a report by the Chief Executive which sought approval for officers to conduct negotiations with officials of both the Scottish and UK Governments on an Aberdeen City Region Deal.

The report recommended:-

that the Council authorise the Chief Executive of Aberdeen City Council, in partnership with her counterpart at Aberdeenshire Council, to conduct direct negotiations with both the UK Government, in particular the Cabinet Office, and the Scottish Government over the submission and agreement of an Aberdeen City Region Deal bid.

A promotional DVD, based on the proposed Aberdeen City Region Deal - Powering Tomorrow’s World, was then played to the Council.

The Council resolved:-

to authorise the Chief Executive, in consultation with the Council Leader, to work in partnership with the Chief Executive of Aberdeenshire Council, to conduct direct negotiations with both the UK Government, in particular the Cabinet Office, and the Scottish Government over the submission and agreement of an Aberdeen City Region Deal bid.
