Provide better Mental Health services in Aberdeen
We the undersigned petition the council to Come up with a strategic plan in bettering Mental Health for both young people and adults. Also come up with more ways to support those suffering and provide mandatory training for all teachers, employers, and general public if they wish to take it
In 2018 there were 6,507 suicide deaths according to the National Office of Statistics in the UK, this accounts for 1,627 in Scotland and accounts for 19 deaths per day which is unacceptable! In 2017-18 the number of people detained under the mental health act according to the NHS was 49,551, meaning that every day almost 150 people were detained which again is also unacceptable. Psychiatric wards are over crowded and with mixed vulnerability of patients trouble can start anywhere at any time. There needs to be more done so patients can manage their care in their own community without being admitted
