(i)         to note the terms of the report and the timetable set out; and

(ii)        to authorise officers to continue with this discussion with a view to agreeing detailed collaborative working arrangements which will be the subject of a further report to Committee seeking approval of the same.

The Committee had before it a report by the Interim Director of Communities, Housing and Infrastructure which provided an update on the discussions taking place between local authorities in the north of Scotland with a view to the creation of a Formal Joint Working Partnership of North Scotland Trading Standards Services and to seek members permission to continue participating in these discussions.  In the face of ongoing national discussions on the future of the delivery of the TS function, the Chief Executive requested that we explore the possibility of a Joint TS Service in the North with our neighbouring authorities.  The report outlined the results of those discussions to date.

The report recommended:-

That the Committee -

(a)       Note the terms of the report and the timetable set out; and

(b)       Authorise officers to continue with this discussion with a view to agreeing detailed collaborative working arrangements which will be the subject of a further report to Committee seeking approval of the same.

The Committee resolved:-

to agree the recommendations.
