Meeting: 25/11/2021 - Education Operational Delivery Committee (Item 5)

Decision:

(i)       to note that item 11 (Inspection Reporting) had been delayed to January 2022 as the inspection report in question had still to be made publicly available;

(ii)       following a query from Mr Sansom on item 22 (School Estate Plan) in respect of dates being added to the planner in relation to Countesswells, to note that the Chief Officer – Corporate Landlord had confirmed that dates would be updated for the next meeting of the Committee; and

(ii)       to otherwise note the planner.

Minutes:

The Committee had before it the committee business planner as prepared by the Chief Officer – Governance. 

 

The Committee resolved:-

Decision:

The Committee resolved:-

(i)       in relation to item 11 (Inspection Reporting), to note that inspections had now restarted and therefore reports to committee would resume as reports are published; and

(ii)       to otherwise note the planner.

Decision:

The Committee resolved:-

(i)       to note that item 4 (Education Improvement Journey and National Improvement Framework) which had been withdrawn from the agenda would be reported to the September meeting;

(ii)       to note that the Clerk would amend the description at item 21 (Campus Model for School Provision) to include the update provided by the Chief Officer – Corporate Landlord at the March meeting in respect of Bucksburn and Countesswells; and

(iii)      to otherwise note the planner.

Decision:

(i)              to note the comments from officers in respect of the school estate, and in respect of the query from the Parent Forum about an update on Countesswells, to note that this would be included in the Community Campus report due to Committee in November;

(ii)             to note that the Chief Officer – Education would take back to the school placings team the comments made by Mr Rafferty in respect of the reasons given in school placing appeals around capacity in schools; and

(iii)           to otherwise note the planner.

Members asked a number of questions of officers in respect of item 27 on the planner (School Estate Plan).

 

The Committee resolved:-

(i)              to note that the Committee Annual Effectiveness report would now be presented to the November 2021 meeting to enable sufficient data to be collected due to the cancellation of meetings in 2020;

(ii)             to note the comments from officers in respect of the school estate including that an update would be provided on Bucksburn later in the year, and in respect of the query from the Parent Forum about an update on Countesswells, to note that this would be included in the Community Campus report due to Committee in November;
