Decision:

The Committee resolved:-

to note the verbal update provided.

Minutes:

The Committee heard from Chief Inspector Darren Bruce, Police Scotland, who provided a verbal update on the Disclosure Scheme for Domestic Abuse Scotland.

Chief Inspector Bruce explained that the scheme was introduced as a way for people to ask Police Scotland if someone had a history of domestic abuse and if so, to disclose that information to their partner.  It was noted that the person's partner could also apply to the scheme.

Chief Inspector Bruce also advised that they had received 100 applications this calendar year for the scheme, which was an increase of 65% compared to the same time last year, and noted that Police Scotland were really encouraging members of the public to use the scheme should they have any concerns, in order to drive down domestic abuse.

Chief Inspector Bruce answered various questions from Members.

The Committee resolved:-
