Additional documents:

Minutes:

With reference to Article 12 of the minute of meeting of the Corporate Policy and Performance Committee of 8 March 2012, the Council had before it a report by the Director of Corporate Governance which sought approval in principle for the amended Scheme for the Establishment of Community Councils and associated documents prior to it being advertised in the local press.

The report advised that the consultation exercise would inform the public that the scheme had been amended and would be formally adopted following an eight week consultation period. It would also highlight the additional boundary changes that had been requested by two Community Councils.

It was explained that in terms of Section 53 of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973, as amended, a decision of a local authority to review its Scheme for the Establishment of Community Councils, shall be by resolution passed by not less than two-thirds of the members voting thereon at a local authority meeting specially convened for the purpose with notice of the object.

The report recommended:-

that the Council approve the issue of a public notice inviting members of the public to comment on the scheme and the boundary changes.

The Council resolved:-

to approve the recommendation.

- PETER STEPHEN, Lord Provost.
