Requests for Funding pdf icon PDF 17 KB

Minutes:

The Sub Committee had before it a report by the Director of Corporate Governance seeking approval for funds to be released in relation to three separate requests.

The report explained that as part of the celebration of the 600th anniversary of the Battle of Harlaw, the monument was being repaired and cleaned and six plaques were being attached to it to commemorate the main parties.  It had been agreed that the Burgesses of Guild and the Seven Incorporated Trades would jointly fund one of the plaques at a cost of £1,000, i.e. £500 each.

The report advised that in the past few years, the activity level of the Burgesses of Guild had risen considerably.  A website had been set up on which all events were recorded with photographs where appropriate, and photographs of all new Burgesses, however these photographs had been taken with borrowed cameras and were, on occasion, limited in size and quality.  The report requested that a camera be purchased at a cost of approximately £350, which would be for exclusive use by the Burgesses.

Lastly, the report advised that the Court of Deans of Scotland had recently held its annual meeting and dinner in Aberdeen, which only happened every 11 years as a result of there being 11 Guilds in Scotland.  As part of the programme for the day, a tour of the city had been provided - the cost of the coach hire of £270 was requested to be met from the Guildry funds.

The report appended a financial statement for the Guildry funds for 2009/10 and indicative figures for 2010/11.

The Sub Committee resolved:-

to approve the release of funds in relation to the following items:-

  • Plaque for the 600th anniversary of the Battle of Harlaw - £500
  • Purchase of camera - £350
  • Payment for coach hire for Court of Deans of Scotland - £270

- JOHN WEST, Master of Mortifications, Chairperson.
