The Committee resolved:-

(i)             to note that all Public Protection Committee Business with effect from 14 October 2022 had been reallocated to other committees; and

(ii)            to otherwise to note the content of the Planner.

The Committee had before it the Police Scotland Performance Report for the period April 2021 - March 2022.

 

The report recommended:

that the Committee discuss, comment on, and endorse the report.

 

Kate Stephen, Chief Superintendent – Police Scotland, spoke to the report and responded to questions from Members.

 

The Committee resolved:-

(i)             to thank the communities of Dyce and note the support from elected members following the tragic murder of Jill Barclay;

(ii)            to express its thanks to the North East Division of Police Scotland for their response following the death of HM Queen Elizabeth;

(iii)          to note that the Chief Superintendent would bring a Thematic Report on Cyber Crime to a future committee;

(iv)          to note that the Chief Superintendent would check on (1) New Driver Scheme promotion in schools; (2) road markings and speeding around schools and the west end of the city; and (3) figures on instances of street drinking and anti-social behaviour in the city centre and provide an update to members where applicable; and

(v)           to otherwise endorse the report.

Police Scotland - Thematic Report : Mental Health & Wellbeing Support POL/22/221 pdf icon PDF 331 KB

Minutes:

The Committee had before it a report from Police Scotland providing information on the mental health and wellbeing support for staff serving in North East Division.

 

Kate Stephen, Chief Superintendent – Police Scotland, spoke to the report and responded to questions from Members regarding support for staff’s families and across the wider public sector.

 

The report recommended:

that the Committee discuss, comment on and endorse the report.

 

The Committee resolved:-

to endorse the report.

Scottish Fire and Rescue Service Six Monthly Performance Report - SFR/22/224 pdf icon PDF 276 KB

The Committee had before it the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service Six Month Performance Report for the period April - Sept 22 which detailed the performance of the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service against the objectives contained within the Aberdeen City Local Fire and Rescue Plan.

 

Chay Ewing, Local Senior Officer – SFRS, spoke to the report and responded to questions from Members regarding specifics of the report.

 

The report recommended:

that the Committee consider and note the performance data provided in the Performance Report.

 

The Committee resolved:-

(i)             to note that the Local Senior Officer would investigate enquiries from members regarding (1) fire-raising at Charleston School; and (2) unwanted fire alarm signals in Midstocket and Rosemount and provide an update to members where applicable; and

(ii)            to otherwise endorse the report.

The Committee had before it for information a letter from the HM Fire Service Inspectorate outlining a Review of Inspection Arrangements across Local Authority Areas.

Protective Services: Food Regulatory Service Plan 2022/2023 - OPE/22/154 pdf icon PDF 216 KB

The Committee had before it the Protective Services Food Regulatory Service Plan for 2022/2023 for approval.

 

Andrea Carson - Principal Environmental Health Officer, Operations and Protective Services, presented the report and explained that the Food Law Code of Practice (Scotland) required Local Authorities to prepare an annual Service Plan which detailed the intended activity of the Service based on the resources allocated.

 

Hazel Stevenson - Protective Services Manager spoke in furtherance of the report and responded to questions from members regarding recruitment of officers and how the national shortage was being addressed through new initiatives.

 

The report recommended:

that the Committee approve the Protective Services Food Regulatory Service Plan 2022/2023.

 

The Committee resolved:-

to approve the Protective Services Food Regulatory Service Plan 2022/2023 as attached at Appendix A of the report.

Protective Services Occupational Health and Safety Intervention Plan 2022/23 - OPE/22/211 pdf icon PDF 239 KB

The Committee had before it a report outlining the Protective Services’ proposals for delivering the occupational safety and health regulatory service for 2022/2023.

 

Andrew Gilchrist - Principal Environmental Health Officer, Operations and Protective Services, spoke to the report.

 

The report recommended:

that the Committee approve the Occupational Health and Safety Intervention Plan for 2022/23.

 

The Committee resolved:-

(i)             to note the amended figures circulated in respect of Table 6 - Performance Review 2021/22 at page 141 of the report; and

(ii)           to otherwise approve the Occupational Health and Safety Intervention Plan for 2022/23 as attached at Appendix 1 of the report.
