Determination of Urgent Business

Minutes:

In terms of Standing Order 28(3)(vi), and in accordance with Section 50(B)(4)(b) of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973, the Committee was informed that it had to determine (1) that the item on the agenda was of an urgent nature; and (2) that the Committee required to consider the item and take a decision thereon.  

 

The Committee resolved:

to agree that the item was of an urgent nature and required to be considered on this day.

Minutes:

The Committee had before it a report by the Director of Enterprise, Planning and Infrastructure which sought permission to suspend the operation ofthe Aberdeen City Council Drinking in Public Places Byelaw 2002, to permitthe responsible consumption of alcohol within the boundaries of the Duthie Park for the BP Summer Big Screens on Thursday 17 May, 2012 from 6pm to 11pm and Monday 16 July, 2012 from 6pm to 11pm.

 

The Legal Manager (Commercial and Advice) advised the Committee that due to the very tight timescales involved, that she could not guarantee the suspension could be granted in time for the 17 May date.

 

The Committee resolved:

to instruct the Head of Legal and Democratic Services to undertake the processes necessary to enact the suspension of the byelaw currently in operation, of the existing Aberdeen City Council Drinking in Public Places Byelaw 2002 within the boundaries of the Duthie Park for the BP Summer Big Screens on Thursday 17 May, 2012 from 6pm to 11pm and Monday 16 July, 2012 from 6pm to 11pm.
