John Cooke was first elected to Aberdeen City Council representing the Hazlehead,Queens Cross & Countesswells Ward, in May 2017.Before becoming a councillor, he held senior public policy/regulatory roles in the telecoms, pharmaceutical, and financial services sectors, mainly in a blue-chip environment.

 

John has an MA in History from Cambridge University and retains a keen interest in the subject. His other interests include reading, and he is an avid sports fan. He is a passionate supporter of Scotland’s rugby and football teams, and a fan of Partick Thistle FC and Manchester United. He is on the Council of the Friends of the Gordon Highlanders Museum and is a member of the Vestry at St Mary’s, Carden Place.

 

He is married with two grown-up children.
